Building Confidence

Participants thrive as they learn and grow. They gain confidence in themselves as they take on new challenges and explore their community, safely and with support.

LIVIN’ & LEARNIN’

The Livin’ & Learnin’ Program encourages young people ages 14 and up to challenge themselves to try new things while building friendships and gaining greater independence. Our attentive program managers customize each participant’s learning plan to their specific goals and abilities and provide one-on-one coaching, encouragement, and support every step of the way.

Throughout the program, Livin’ and Learnin’ participants learn how to:

  • Access non-emergency police services, use a fire extinguisher, and apply basic first aid
  • Build communication skills
  • Buy a movie ticket
  • Explore new hobbies
  • Increase mobility
  • Join a club and participate in community events
  • Obtain a library card
  • Plan parties and events
  • Safely use the internet and cell phones

Livin' & Learnin' clients had a blast at Discovery World in Milwaukee! The highlights of the day included learning about various types of fish and being able to take home a 3D puzzle. These experiences help our clients connect with the community, explore new opportunties, and create... lasting memories.

Today, Cotey is living the life he dreamed of in his own apartment. Every day, KANDU makes dreams like Cotey’s a reality, ensuring that people with disabilities have every opportunity to thrive and experience a life full of choice and purpose, enriching our community as a whole.

But we ...need your help to fill the gap between funding sources and costs to administer our programs. It simply isn't enough.

Donate to KANDU's annual giving campaign to give people like Cotey more opportunities, choices, and independence here: https://www.kanduindustries.com/support/annual-appeal-2024/
