Building Confidence
Participants thrive as they learn and grow. They gain confidence in themselves as they take on new challenges and explore their community, safely and with support.
LIVIN’ & LEARNIN’
The Livin’ & Learnin’ Program encourages young people ages 14 and up to challenge themselves to try new things while building friendships and gaining greater independence. Our attentive program managers customize each participant’s learning plan to their specific goals and abilities and provide one-on-one coaching, encouragement, and support every step of the way.
Throughout the program, Livin’ and Learnin’ participants learn how to:
- Access non-emergency police services, use a fire extinguisher, and apply basic first aid
- Build communication skills
- Buy a movie ticket
- Explore new hobbies
- Increase mobility
- Join a club and participate in community events
- Obtain a library card
- Plan parties and events
- Safely use the internet and cell phones

💥 Kindness in action! KANDU's Aktion Club members rallied together this year with a spirited change war and a delicious bake sale — all to support youth in need. Thanks to their incredible effort, they proudly presented a donation to Project 16:49 ! 💙
The smiles say it all — ...we’re so proud of their heart and hustle!
✨ Aktion Club is a leadership and service club for adults with disabilities, empowering members to give back and make a difference in their community.
Last week during our Business After 5 event, we were honored to receive a grant from the Janesville Generations Fund presented to our Executive Director, Kathy Hansen, and KANDU client, Jimmy.
This generous gift directly supports KANDU's Livin’ and Learning program, helping ...individuals with disabilities build life skills, confidence, and meaningful connections in our community.
Our Executive Director shared:
“On behalf of everyone at KANDU and our Livin' and Learning program, I want to express our deepest and most heartfelt thanks for your incredibly generous grant of $10,000. Your support means the world to us—and even more so to the amazing individuals with disabilities who are at the heart of everything we do.”
Thank you, Janesville Generations Fund, for believing in our mission. 💙
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us at our new building last night for a fantastic KANDU Business After Five with the Milton Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, and Forward Janesville Inc!
We had an amazing turnout and a truly unforgettable ...evening—complete with a Peep tasting station, tunes by Versatile DJ Entertainment, delicious food from Hoffman House Catering, and some very special guests… baby goats, hens, bunnies (thanks to Christen Peterson for the cute animals!) and even the Easter Bunny himself! 🐣🐰🎶
It was a night full of laughter, connection, and community—and we’re so grateful to everyone who made it so special.
Our doors are open for KANDU Business After Five! Swing on by before 7 p.m. for some springtime fun!
🎶 A heartfelt THANK YOU to The Long Road Traveled Band for generously donating their time and talent to perform for KANDU clients today! 💙
It was a truly meaningful day filled with music, laughter, and connection. Clients and staff came together to sing, dance, and simply enjoy each ...other's company—and as you’ll see in the video clips, the joy was contagious! 🕺💃 Thank you again to The Long Road Travelled Band for making today so special!
