activity-based programing
Minds in Motion is KANDU’s newest community-based day habilitation program, designed to help seniors improve self-help, adaptive skills, and independence.
minds in motion
It can be difficult for primary caregivers to provide the social interactions their elderly loved ones need to truly thrive, mainly due to barriers including costs, lack of resources, the ability to physically support them, and transportation. KANDU’s Minds in Motion program provides opportunities for aging adults to increase physical movement, maintain cognitive abilities, and create social relationships, all leading to better mental and physical health outcomes. KANDU’s model of care is activity-based rather than medical. Our client service team works cooperatively with each participant and their support system to assess individual needs and develop team based activities designed to reach specific goals.
You or your loved one will spend 80% of the time with KANDU engaged in community activities like:
- Park and trail exploration
- Civic centers, libraries & recreational facilities
- Shopping
- Volunteering
- Dining
- Movies
- And more

Our Livin’ and Learnin’ program took an inspiring trip to the historic Milton House Museum the last authenticated stop on the Underground Railroad that can still be toured in Wisconsin! Clients had the chance to step back in time and learn about the history of our town. Experiences like this ...enrich our clients’ lives, offering both education and personal growth. Thank you to the Milton House Museum for sharing such a powerful part of history!

KANDU’s Minds in Motion and Day Services programs had an amazing day at Busy Barns Adventure Farm in Fort Atkinson last week. Kathy Hansen, executive director of KANDU Industries, said Tuesday’s news felt like the Super Bowl, coming just a week after the grand opening of its new site in Milton.
“We are over the moon. It took a team of people to apply for the grant and we are just so excited that we were one ...of the nonprofits who were chosen,” Hansen said.
