Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia is a journey filled with love—but it’s also filled with challenges. At KANDU, we understand the emotional and physical toll caregiving can take on families. That’s why our Adult Day Services & Memory Care program is here: to provide compassionate, professional care for elderly individuals with memory impairments while giving families the support and peace of mind they need to thrive.
With over 60 years of experience supporting the needs of our community and a new state-of-the-art facility, KANDU is uniquely positioned to help individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory impairments maintain their dignity, health, and independence. Our highly trained staff treats every client like family, offering not only a safe and engaging environment but also the warmth and respect that make all the difference.
When families receive a memory impairment diagnosis, it often comes with difficult choices: Can I step back from work to care for my loved one? Should we consider an assisted living facility? How will I navigate this new reality?
KANDU’s Adult Day Services & Memory Care program provides an alternative—helping clients stay healthy and safe so they can continue to reside in their own homes longer. From personalized care plans to social and recreational activities, our program is designed to keep clients active and engaged while easing the caregiving burden for their families. Carrie, a client in the program, said, “I like to come here. I love the people [at KANDU]. I like to go bowling at RiversEdge and read my book.”
Whether you’re a spouse juggling multiple responsibilities or an adult child who desperately needs a break from managing a career and family on top of caregiving, KANDU offers a solution that helps families focus on what matters most: spending meaningful time together.
“Following a dementia diagnosis, too many individuals and families are left on their own groping in the dark for services that can help them. I don’t want others to go through what I did. I lost two to three years searching for answers. It was time I could have spent differently,” voiced Pamela, an individual living with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Pamela shared her Alzheimer’s diagnosis journey with the Alzheimer’s Association in 2024 to raise awareness about the lack of resources for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s who need support.
This is the heart of what we do—transforming stress and uncertainty into hope and opportunity. “We’re seeing unprecedented levels of need in our community already, and projections show the rates of Alzheimer’s and dementia are expected to rise 110% by 2040. Programs like KANDU’s are more vital than ever, and we can offer much-needed support and real relief to families,” said KANDU’s Executive Director, Kathy Hansen. Every day, we see the incredible impact this program has on lives of our clients and their caregivers and families.”
